Vape FAQ

A cannabis vape is a battery-powered device that heats up cannabis oil, herb, or concentrates. This then produces vapor that is inhaled by the user.

Vapes are fast-acting and, due to their higher potency, can lead to more intense effects. They are not recommended for novice consumers or those with low tolerance.

All-In-One Vapes

An all-in-one vape consists of a pre-filled cartridge that contains a liquid cannabis product and a battery-powered heating element that vaporizes the liquid. When it’s empty, the device can be discarded. Some all-in-ones are rechargeable.

510-Thread Vapes

This is the most universal vape type: Pre-filled 510-thread cartridges are sold separately and meant to be screwed onto a 510-thread battery. The “510” refers to the specific thread pattern and size, making it easy to switch between different cartridges without compatibility issues. Once the distillate has been consumed, the cartridge can be disposed of, and the battery can be reused.

COMPONENT

WHAT IT DOES

Mouthpiece

Emits the vapor, and in many cases activates the heating element when inhaled.

Cartridge or pod

Contains the liquid cannabis product to be heated.

Coil or atomizer

Ceramic or steel component that contains the cotton wick, ceramic or quartz heating element. The coil heats the liquid cannabis product to produce vapor.

Battery

Powers the heating element.

It’s actually quite simple. Here are the steps:

  • Prepare your device:Ensure its charged and filled with your cannabis oil, herb, or concentrate.
  • Turn on and heat:Click the battery five times to turn it on. Most vapes heat with two clicks. When finished, click five times to turn off—always turn off to prevent accidental use, especially by anyone underage.
  • Inhale gently:Draw slowly from the mouthpiece. Hold the button if your device has one. Short, controlled inhales are recommended. Avoid holding vapor in your lungs, which is better for lung health and cannabinoid absorption.

Some additional tips:

    • Long draws can overheat the product, causing degradation (“burnt” taste), and may clog or leak the device.
    • Live resin concentratesare particularly sensitive to heat due to higher terpene and moisture content.
    • Use lower heat settingsfor smoother vapor and better flavor; higher settings produce thicker vapor but risk faster consumption and overheating.

Good question! The main difference between vaping and smoking a pre roll is that with vaping, no substance is burned, so very little smoke is produced.

When a person inhales cannabis via vaping or smoking a pre roll, the absorption method is the same — THC is absorbed by the blood in the lungs and moves quickly to the brain, producing an almost immediate effect.

Although vape devices produce little smoke, they cannot be used in places where smoking is prohibited.

When cannabis is inhaled into the lungs, it is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and its effects are felt within seconds to minutes – however, it can take up to 10 to 30 minutes to feel the full effects. Consuming more during this time can increase the risk of adverse events. According to Health Canada, effects from consuming cannabis can last up to 12 hours with some effects lasting up to 24 hours. As always with cannabis, you should start low and go slow.

Like using other forms of cannabis, vape side effects may include dry mouth, dry eyes and/or dizziness. It’s important to understand that different people experience cannabis differently and not everyone experiences the same side effects. This is why it’s important to use any cannabis product wisely and responsibly.

First – Always, ALWAYS buy legal! Vape products which are available on the illegal market have not been tested for microbial and chemical contaminants. They have also not been held to any safety standards.

Vapes sold by PEI Cannabis must go through rigorous quality assurance processes. And only cannabis vaping products from producers with a license from Health Canada will be sold.

Secondly, when you are considering purchasing and using cannabis vapes recreationally, an important thing to keep in mind is how to use the vape in a way that is low risk. When choosing to use any recreational cannabis, it’s important to know the risks. No. The formulas within the vapes which are available at PEI Cannabis are made using only high-quality cannabis ingredients.

PEI Cannabis prohibits licensed producers from supplying cannabis vaping products containing synthetic or non-natural flavoring agents. Only naturally occurring flavours produced by or found in cannabis itself and botanically derived terpenes are permitted.

When considering vape products from licensed producers, PEI Cannabis does not allow any product names, branding, or packaging that may be considered appealing to youth. This includes restricting the use of fanciful names outside of naturally occurring cannabis strains.

A cannabis vape is more discreet because no smoke is emitted. It is also a more efficient delivery system as it produces no combustion, which means fewer cannabinoids are lost.

Yes. Like other cannabis products, vapes are available in different cannabis strains. These include Sativa, Indica, and hybrid strains as well as CBD-dominant strains. Each strain has its own unique characteristics and effects for the user, as well as its own flavours and aromas.

A vape device should be stored in an upright position, inside the resealable child-resistant packaging, in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight, at room temperature and out of reach of children or animals.
