What are edibles?
Edibles are any foods, candies or drinks infused with cannabis. These products are ingested rather smoked or vaporized, which can result in more intense and longer lasting effects than smoking or vaping. Since edibles must be digested, their effects generally take longer before being felt. That’s why it’s always a good idea to start low and go slow.
How do edibles work?
When you eat an edible, THC and other active ingredients slowly get absorbed into your bloodstream through the stomach and intestinal tract. They enter the bloodstream and travel to the liver, where they are metabolized and released back into the bloodstream. These active ingredients then enter the brain and the rest of the central nervous system, potentially producing an effect.
When are the effects of edibles felt?
The effects of edibles are usually felt 30 to 90 minutes after being consumed. Edibles also produce much stronger and longer-lasting effects. The effects tend to last between 4 to 12 hours, depending on the dose taken.
